This 2-minute work, one of a number of piano miniatures by Peter Sculthorpe, recalls a period from 1957 when the composer first moved to Sydney to write popular music for theatre. One of his collaborators, Kate Duncan, wrote him a set of lyrics for a song which didn’t fit the review they were writing, and much later, in 2002, Sculthorpe recast that material for solo piano.
