Description:
Suite Miniature, Op. 145 (10 Easy Pieces) for solo piano was composed by Alexander Gretchaninov (1864-1956), during the composer's late period in exile after leaving Russia in the wake of the Revolution. Written as a set of short, accessible character pieces, the suite reflects Gretchaninov's continued devotion to music intended for teaching and domestic performance rather than the concert virtuoso tradition. Today Suite Miniature occupies a modest but valued place in piano pedagogy, appreciated for its glimpse into the late creative voice of a composer who carried the Russian Romantic tradition into a changing modern world. Movement titles: 1. Chanson d'Aurore; 2. Chant d'Artisan; 3. Humoresque; 4. Bal Champetre; 5. Fanfare de Coquelicots; 6. Vers la Maison; 7. Souvenir de l'Ami Lointain; 8. Au Foyer; 9. Phantasme; 10. Valse dans le Soir. Reprint edition.
