Description:
Pann has written a marvelously manic two-step in response to a recalcitrant cheese grater and bloody knuckles. He says, 'After some racing (and sometimes Gaspard-like ragtime), the grater gets going with quick rolled chords up and down the keyboard.' The Cheese Grater is challenging, but ultimately satisfying for the appreciative audience. Watch pianist Joel Hastings perform The Cheese Grater on YouTube. He has also recorded the work on Naxos 8.559751, an all-Pann compilation. For advanced pianists.
