Description:
The melodic starting point of this work is the melody of the famous Easter sequence 'Victimae Paschali Laudes'. I divided the first 39 notes of the sequence into four sections and was amazed how much the melodic content of these sections corresponds to the different character of the individual Easter days that I wanted to represent in the five movements. A section is processed in each of movements 1-4, and the whole melody is heard in the fifth movement. (Tina Ternes)
