With "Different Trains", Steve Reich created one of the most significant and profoundly moving masterpieces of contemporary chamber music. This visionary work unites a virtuoso string quartet with pre-recorded tape, spoken voice samples, and train sounds to form a deeply poignant musical testament of time. Across three gripping movements, historical train journeys across America are juxtaposed with indelible memories of the Holocaust in World War II Europe. This premium edition from the renowned publisher Boosey & Hawkes includes the complete set of parts for string quartet as well as the essential audio CD with the accompaniment tape. An indispensable repertoire highlight for ambitious ensembles seeking to captivate audiences with a compelling fusion of rhythm, history, and sonic innovation.
