Description:
Monn was one of the great Viennese musical talents of the 18th century, who died at the age of 33. This concerto—from which he even derived a harpsichord concerto in the same key—caught the attention of Arnold Schoenberg, who published it in the DTÖ in 1912 and also prepared a piano reduction. Furthermore, in 1933, Schönberg used another of Monn’s harpsichord concertos in D major to create a cello concerto in his own orchestration, which was premiered by Emanuel Feuermann in 1935. Monn’s G-minor concerto, presented here, was made particularly popular in our time by Jaqueline du Pré, who performed it frequently and also recorded it. Critical Urtext edition. Series: Il Violoncello concertato
