Description:
The composer Theodor Kirchner (1823-1903), a friend of Johannes Brahms, devoted his work almost exclusively to piano and chamber music as well as to lieder. Among his numerous works are also collections with an easy level of difficulty or pedagogical demand. Among these are the "very small pieces for string quartet" (without opus number). They are seven miniatures of varying character, from songful to sprightly. Since they are mostly technically easy to master, they offer the opportunity to practice chamber music interplay: Listening to each other, responding, joining in, detaching, and other string quartet challenges. Quartet sound itself can also be trained with the sets - an ideal preparation for auditions and competitions (such as "Jugend musiziert").
