Gabriel Pierné (* August 16, 1863; † July 17, 1937) was a French composer and conductor. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Antoine François Marmontel, Cesar Franck and Jules Massenet, among others. He won the Prix de Rome in 1882 with the cantata Edith and then worked as organist at Ste-Clotilde from 1890 to 1898. In 1903 he became Édouard Colonne's deputy as director of the Concerts Colonne named after him, which he conducted alone from 1910 to 1934. He achieved great fame as a conductor. He composed six operas, several ballets and pantomimes, oratorios, orchestral and chamber music works as well as pieces for organ, harp and piano.
