Description:
The Serenade in C K648 ‘Ganz kleine Nachtmusik’ for two violins and basso (‘cello’) is a previously unknown piece by Mozart that was discovered by researchers in Leipzig, Germany, and included in the 2024 edition of the Köchel catalogue. Thought to have been composed when he was in his teens, the piece consists of seven movements for string trio, lasting around 12 minutes. Referred to as ‘Very Little Night Music’, this light and characterful string trio is a must for string players and Mozart enthusiasts to explore alongside the famous ‘Little Night Music’ (Eine kleine Nachtmusik K525). This very first Urtext edition of the work includes parts, a preface with historical placement, and critical commentary.
