Description:
In Woven from Light, two voices meet within a shimmering field of sound and motion. Fluctuating, floating textures unfold into lyrical lines that search, respond, mirror and intertwine. These fragile sound surfaces are repeatedly interrupted by motifs – impulses that set the weave in motion and challenge its balance. From this interplay arises a breathing dialogue where proximity and distance, stillness and energy remain inseparable. For this work, David Philip Hefti was awarded the Gold Medal with Honourable Mention and the Contemporary Music Prize at the 10th Manhattan International Music Competition.
