Description:
The 40 exercises were written in 1833 as part of the Violoncell School op. 126. For the edition, Tobias Bonz divided the material into two booklets: The 24 scales through two octaves in booklet 1 briefly and clearly summarize the basics of scale playing on the cello. A varied, light accompaniment voice creates short pieces of music that are fun for learners of all ages.
Booklet 2 poses somewhat greater challenges: 16 duos in the neck registers in both voices give a rich insight into various aspects of cello technique: in addition to pizzicato and harmonics, syncopation and trills are also practiced.
