Description:
Ševcík's Opus 3, which concentrates mainly on violin playing with a bouncing bow, follows on from the systematic development of bow technique to which the composer had already devoted himself in his Opus 2 - "School of Bow Technique". In a condensed, very effective form, the "Forty Variations" run through a wide range of movements of the right arm - from elementary to virtuoso.
Tomáš Jamník takes Ševcík's methodical intention into account in his arrangement for violoncello by not mechanically transposing the original violin version, but by ensuring an adequate adaptation to the positions of the violoncello. This makes the short variations a valuable pedagogical work for cellists too, but they can also serve as virtuoso compositions for concert performances.
