From "50 Sonate per due violoncelli Libro secondo" for 2 cellos (cello & basso continuo / 2 cellos & basso continuo), published as a first edition by Boris Atanasov. De Cinque was a unique composer. As an aristocratic amateur, he apparently felt free to experiment with style and playing technique. He had a penchant for long sequences of double stops featuring tied, syncopated dissonances and resolutions. In this anthology (Sonatas Nos. 5, 10, 20, 38, 39, 42, 47, 48, 49), a bass figure has been added for Cello 2—even though it is not present in the source—in order to make this distinctive and compelling music accessible to the solo repertoire as well. 60 pages, Il Violoncello solo series "This edition is highly commendable, and it is well worth getting to know de Cinque’s music."
