Carl Stamitz (1746 - 1801), a contemporary of Mozart and Haydn and the son of the violinist and composer Johann Stamitz, worked at the Mannheim court before traveling Europe as a violin virtuoso and composer. He left behind three cello concertos - charming, wonderfully crafted works full of beautiful melodies.

In this edition, we present the Cello Concerto No. 1 in G major, dedicated to Frederick William II of Prussia, who was a talented amateur musician.
