Composed in 1886, Pfeilschnell Polka schnell, Op. 108 is one of the most brilliant works by Carl Michael Ziehrer, an important figure in the Viennese musical tradition alongside the Strauss dynasty. Entirely in the sparkling spirit of the Polka schnell, this work inspires with its irresistible momentum and fiery character and is reminiscent of a breathless race full of elegance and esprit. From the very first bars, a rousing energy unfolds, carried by incisive rhythms and effective dynamic contrasts. The lightness of the motifs, combined with virtuoso writing, lends the score a festive splendor of unmistakably Viennese color. The melodic episodes - sometimes playful, sometimes brilliant - maintain the joyful tension until the glittering conclusion.
