The final work of Ernest Bloch's Jewish Cycle, "Schelomo" (Hebrew for "Solomon") features the cello acting as the voice of King Solomon. The liturgical character of this work requires the distinction between singing and chanting. "Schelomo" is dedicated to cellist Alexandre Barjansky and his wife, Catherine.
