Jean Langlais bearbeitete sein Violoncellokonzert, die 1936 komponierte 'Symphonie concertante pour violoncelle et orchestre', auch für Violoncello und Klavier. Aus Anlass seines 20. Todesjahres wird der erste Satz des Werkes unter dem Titel 'Supplicatio' in der Bearbeitung des Komponisten, bei der auch das Klavier durch eine Orgel ersetzt werden kann, veröffentlicht. Damit soll auf das schöne Konzert aufmerksam gemacht werden, das Chromatik mit freier Modalität in der für Langlais' Musik der 30er Jahre charakteristischen Harmonik verbindet, und in dem auch seine melodische Begabung zum Ausdruck kommt.
