Für die vorliegende Ausgabe ging der Herausgeber auf die Autographe zurück, die sich in der Bibliothek des Konservatoriums in Parma befinden. Zu einigen Stücken liegen Orchesterpartituren bzw. Streicherstimmen vor. Sie belegen, dass Bottesini diese Kompositionen auch mit Orchesterbegleitung aufführte.
Die vorliegende Ausgabe notiert den Solopart in der heute üblichen Kontrabass-Notation. Der Klavierpart ist dabei in der für den Kontrabass gebräuchlichen Solo-Stimmung Fis-H-E-A eingerichtet.
