Description:
Ohrid Trout, composed in 2015, is a virtuoso piece originally written for solo piano. This work is inspired as much by a love of nature as it is by a raw, universal meaning of a very personal experience. The Ohrid trout, an endemic species, native to the oldest natural lake in Europe, is threatened with extinction. For the author, it is synonymous with a lost love. In collaboration with double bassist Gjorgji Cincievski, the current version of the work was created in 2016. Transcribed for solo double bass and piano accompaniment, the world premiere of this version took place the same year in Beijing (China), at the Cadenza International Double Bass Festival. The work is characterized by its energetic minimalist idiom, Macedonian folklore and unusual rhythms. The double bass part of this edition was revised and arranged by Gjorgji Cincievski, to whom this work is dedicated
