Description:
Jenö Hubay (1858-1937) was a great violinist and composer, who is almost forgotten. One of the reasons for this is that his name could no longer be mentioned during the communist dictatorship in his native country Hungary after 1956. He was considered as a bourgeois-aristocratic artist, as he had contacts with emperors, kings and many other leading figures. Hubay dedicated his 3rd Violin Concerto to his student Ferenc Vecsey, who was then only 14 years old. He permiered it very well and brought it to great success in London and Berlin. The concerto is played with almost no rest between the movements. An attractive and effective written work for the violin. Also the most inveterate foe of romanticism is not able to stand up to this lively composition.
