Description:
The musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in his early youth studied violin with his father Leopold Mozart, who was a well-known violin pedagogue and author of an important treatise on violin playing. During his early childhood, Wolfgang was celebrated as a child prodigy, both on harpsichord and violin. While composing this concerto in 1775, the 19-year-old Mozart was concertmaster of the Salzburg Prince and Archbishops Orchestra. His duties included leading the orchestra and performing chamber music, as well as violin solos. It is likely that Mozart was the first performer of his Violin Concerto in G Major. This one-of-a-kind performance edition includes the Cadenzas of Leopold Auer, with fingerings and bowings by Jascha Heifetz protégé Endre Granat.
