Description:
Strauss originally intended to always perform Don Quixote together with Heldenleben if possible, "as Don Q. in particular is only fully comprehensible alongside Heldenleben". To this day, Strauss' wish is rarely fulfilled. The Urtext edition now being published by Breitkopf & Härtel can help here. Once again, the new edition is based on Strauss's own engraver's model, which helps to clarify numerous misunderstandings and makes it possible to correct dozens of traditional errors. In addition, the harmony parts have now been engraved in full for the first time - these were previously only available in manuscript form.
We have also supplemented this edition with a piano reduction of the most important orchestral passages, which are helpful for studying the parts for solo violoncello and solo viola. Of course, the two solo parts are also included separately with this purchasable piano reduction.
