The songs all include basic staff notation in the keys of A, D, and G, which are the simplest keys for a beginning student. Each piece has finger notation undereach note, enabling the new violinist to play confidently. Quarter notes and half notes are the primary notes used, with a few eighth notes added in the last few pages. The accompanying Online Audio presents each song in the book, with an accompaniment that resembles the sounds of a Cajun band.
