Description:
I wrote *Elegic Music for Violin and Piano* in 1955 (more than a year before I began studying with Sándor Veress) for a school friend from Langenthal. I was under the influence of Willi Reich’s analysis of Berg’s Violin Concerto. Without ever having heard it, I imagined a piece of music that might have roughly corresponded to what I had never heard. It was not until 70 years later, on July 11, 2025, that the world premiere took place in Lockenhaus, following a minor revision. (Heinz Holliger)
