Description:
Mendelssohn had a special relationship with the violin. Although he had a profound command of the instrument and could be heard playing the violin or even the viola on various occasions throughout his life, his focus remained on his main instrument, the piano. This edition is devoted exclusively to Mendelssohn's early pieces for violin and piano from the years 1819 to 1821. They were composed during Mendelssohn's composition lessons with Carl Friedrich Zelter and have survived in his music books.
These are five short pieces that have not previously appeared in any edition. They are now available in the Urtext according to the Leipzig Mendelssohn edition.
The level of difficulty is moderate compared to other works by Mendelssohn, making them suitable for music students on piano and violin.
