Description:
The Halbthurn Capriccioso is dedicated to the Austrian composer Robert Schollum (1913-1987), who was a tireless campaigner for contemporary Austrian music. He established his own series on Austrian radio and programmed many concert series throughout the country, while at the same time acting as a promoter of young performers and bringing 20th century music to the public. Schollum wrote his 3rd violin concerto, a solo violin sonata and several works for violin and piano for René Staar. The effective Halbthurn Capriccioso was written as a small thank-you gift to Schollum and was integrated into Staars extensive Hommage cycle Op. 14.
