Cadenzas by Auer, David, Dont, Joachim, Laub, Molique, Novacek, Saint-Saens, Spohr, Vieuxtemps, Wieniawski, Wulfhorst, Ysa e

Edited by Martin Wulfhorst

Beethoven himself left no cadenza for his violin concerto. This edition is the first and unrivaled compilation of a selection of cadenzas for one of the most famous works in music history, which composers, colleagues and violinists have tried their hand at over the centuries: Included are not only the well-known cadenzas by Leopold Auer and Joseph Joachim, but also those that are not often represented on the concert platform, such as those by Ferdinand David (the first surviving cadenza to op. 61), Louis Spohr, Eugen Ysa e, Camille Saint-Saens, Henri Vieuxtemps, Jacob Dont and, for the first time, those by Henryk Wieniawski. The cadenzas are clearly arranged according to style and school and are accompanied by commentaries (German/English) on performance practice.
The edition complements the new piano reduction BA9019a and
is an enrichment for every violinist who deals with Beethoven's violin concerto.
