Description:
Written during the First World War, Maurice Ravel's composition 'Le Tombeau de Couperin' takes a wistful look at the past, while at the same time being brimming with hints of modernity. Each of the six movements was dedicated to friends who died in battle. In 1919, Ravel orchestrated four of these movements for large orchestra, skilfully extracting melodic lines and colors from the piano part. Matthew van Brink has arranged this wonderful work for violin and piano.
