Description:
In 1910 the first booklet of Debussy's Préludes for piano (HN383) was published, soon followed by arrangements for various instrumentations commissioned by the original publisher. Only one Prélude, however, was transcribed by Debussy himself: Minstrels, which appeared in 1914 in a version for violin and piano. 'Minstrels' were then called comedians who appeared in makeup and caricatured the alleged behavior of blacks in America. The arrangement is of interest to pianists on the one hand - because Debussy also interfered with the original musical text through variants - and on the other hand, of course, to violinists, who will find a delightful and appreciative part of medium difficulty (5 out of 9).
