The Belgian violinist Charles-Auguste de Bériot (1802-1870) was also a teacher and composer. "Scène de Ballet" is perhaps his best-known composition. It is often played by violin students, including the young Itzhak Perlman, who included the work in his collection "Concertos from my Childhood". The piece of music captivates with its beautiful melodies and rhythmic finesse.
The editor
Kurt Sassmannshaus is a world-renowned violin teacher with a chair in Cincinnati (Ohio, USA). In China, he founded the "Great Wall International Music Academy", an international summer academy for young string players. Above all, he continues the family tradition of "Early Beginnings for Strings" founded by his father Egon Sassmannshaus, with editions in German and English, published by Bärenreiter.
The series "Bärenreiter's Concert Pieces" comprises concert pieces for solo strings, mostly violin, but also viola and cello, with piano accompaniment.
