Description:
Serenata andaluza, Op. 28 (Sérénate andalouse; Andalusian Serenade) was composed in 1881 by Pablo de Sarasate (1844-1908), the celebrated Spanish violin virtuoso whose works were designed to showcase his own dazzling technique and distinctive national style. Drawing on the rhythms and melodic inflections of southern Spain, the piece reflects the 19th-century European fascination with Spanish exoticism. Introduced by Sarasate himself in his international concert tours, the work would have been heard by audiences across Europe and the Americas, contributing to his reputation as one of the foremost violinists of his time. Serenata andaluza remains a popular recital work and encore for violinists. Reprint edition. Formerly available from the publisher under the title Spanish Dances, Book 5.
