Description:
In addition to the famous solo concerto, many of Tchaikovsky's violin works have entered the standard violinist's repertoire. An outstanding example is the Valse-Scherzo, sparkling with playfulness, which was written in 1877 for the violinist Josef Kotek, a close friend and pupil. Our editor, the Russian Tchaikovsky scholar Alexander Komarov, ensures the highest fidelity to the sources in the Henle Urtextedition. He was able to consult all sources in the Russian archives and bring clarity to the complex genesis of the work. This edition is the prelude to an edition of all of Tchaikovsky's works for violin and piano, including the Sérénade mélancolique op. 26 and Souvenir d'un lieu cher op. 42.
