The five acts depict the heroic story of Don Quixote de la Mancha: Act 1: A public square (Une place publique) Act 2: The windmills (Les moulins) Act 3:In the Sierra (Dans la Sierra) Act 4: The patio of the beautiful lady (Le patio de la belle Dulcinée) Act 5: Don Quixote's Death (La mort de Don Quichotte) This comedy was well-acclaimed when first played in Monte Carlo. Itwas then taken to Paris to be played at the Theatre of the Gaîeté Lyrique. J. Massenet wrote thirty famous operas which include 'Werther' and 'Thais', also edited as special collection by Alphonse Leduc.
