Description:
Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864) was one of the most successful composers of the 19th century thanks to his ingenuity, dramaturgical flair and ability to adapt to the tastes of the audience.
As a native German with extensive experience in Italian opera, he managed to dominate French music theater for more than thirty years.
The vocal part was at the heart of every opera composition for Meyerbeer. He often decided on an actress after a long search and composed the role according to her abilities. His operas, which place high demands on the performers' creative and technical abilities, are therefore particularly suitable for vocal pedagogy and enrich the art of singing.
This volume of soprano arias offers a representative overview of the composer's diverse operatic output: the selection begins with the early opera "Romilda e Costanza" (1817) and ends with the late grand opéra "L'Africaine" (1865).
