Description:
A musical treasure and a strong addition to the repertoire - not only for church services and sacred concerts!
Josephine Lang's years in Tübingen were initially very happy. From the 1850s, however, the blows of fate became more frequent. Against this backdrop, she evidently found and sought support in setting sacred poems to music. The diversity of the songs is surprising due to their range of moods and styles. Meditative, mournful and consoling songs stand alongside uplifting, confident and even cheerful songs. There are chorale-like compositions reminiscent of Bach-Schemelli as well as intoxicating art songs with sophisticated piano accompaniments. A musical treasure and a strong addition to the repertoire - not only for church services and sacred concerts!
