The first of these songs was commissioned by the 2003 Presteigne Festival, where it wasgiven its premiere by Gillian Keith (soprano) and Simon Lepper (piano). The second and third were added later. The first integral performance of the cycle was given at the 2006 Festival, by Andrew Carwood (tenor) and Alex Soddy (piano), St. Andrew's Church Presteigne, 25 August 2006.
