From the foreword:
Poems by famous poets such as Eichendorff, Heine, Rilke, Hesse, have been set to music several times by equally famous composers such as Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn and others.The age of Romanticism is long gone, but the charm of the poems I chose to set to music still touched me.
The initial spark was a request from my wife Ulrike to set a poem by Heinrich Heine to music for her school choir. This resulted in the first song "The butterfly is in love with the rose". The children liked it and I discovered the joy of composing. Over the last ten years, more than fifty songs have been written. The songs in this booklet are about autumn and winter.
Be inspired to let well-known poems resound in the guise of new melodies.
