Description:
This song is based on a Latin translation of Psalm 3:4, which reads: "I cried to the Lord with my voice, and he heard me from his holy mountain." The first half of the song is meant to convey a sense of desperation, like someone crying out for help and begging to be saved. The mood of despair intensifies with the repetition of "clamavi", which means "I wept". With the change of key at m. 44, a new sense of hope emerges, which gradually gives way to relief and joy that the cries have been heard and help is on the way! Also available for SATB Voices (BL1379).
