Description:
A Pastoral Rhapsody by Bertrand Moren is a lyrical and atmospheric work for solo alphorn and various accompanying ensembles. In three contrasting movements—Lento e molto rubato, Andante espressivo, and Swing—the composer blends Alpine tradition with a contemporary musical language. The free-flowing and expressive introduction particularly highlights the deep tone and poetic character of the alphorn. The middle section unfolds a warm, song-like atmosphere, inspired by mountain landscapes and vast natural spaces. With its elegant and rhythmic swing style, the final movement brings a surprising touch of lightness and modernity. This original blend of folkloric elements and jazz influences gives the work a particularly charming identity. The composition is flexible in its arrangement and can be performed by a wind orchestra, brass band, piano, or small ensembles. It offers the soloist numerous opportunities for musical expression and tonal color. *A Pastoral Rhapsody* is thus an accessible, sophisticated, and characterful concert piece.
