Description:
Andacht auf der Alm is an original work by Jean-François Michel that delicately evokes the tranquil beauty of a mountain landscape. Like an impressionist painter, the composer initially creates an atmospheric soundscape with the organ's diverse timbres, suggesting the vastness and tranquillity of the alpine landscape. Two solo instruments embody the figures in this musical picture. The horn, placed at a distance, emits alphorn calls whose natural resonances blend with the sounds of the surroundings. The trombone answers him and sings a simple melody, as if from a dream, a hymn to the beauty of the moment. The work attempts to capture the particular dissonances that arise in the natural acoustics of the mountains, giving the whole an original and authentic harmonic color. Far from the spectacular, Andacht auf der Alm offers an intimate meditation, a moment suspended between silence and music, in which the soul allows itself to be carried by the echoes of the landscape. It is an invitation to listen inwards and contemplate nature.
