The 'Blue Dances' are written for young trumpeters who are performing together for the first time at auditions or competitions. Especially for the competition 'Jugend musiziert' this suite lends itself as an entry for the lower age groups. The tonal ranges are deliberately kept moderate, rhythmically the pieces are somewhat more demanding. The individual movements can be played attacca one after the other or as single movements. An interesting variation is the interplay with a young percussionist. The 'African Intrada' and the 'Caribbean Rondo' could be accompanied with bongos, congas or percussion.
