Bernhard Gander's Messing 5 is an 11-minute work for brass (horn, 2 trumpets, trombone, tuba). The atomic numbers in the periodic table for the elements copper and zinc provide the basis for the rhythmic and formal structure of Messing 5, which is a dynamic and strongly rhythmic work for five brass instruments. Messing 5 was commissioned by the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik and the WDR and premiered in Witten on 25 April 2021 by Ensemble Schwerpunkt. This new edition (EP14567) contains the score and parts of the work.
