This collection contains chorale arrangements of popular hymns for brass and organ. Possible instrumentation: Brass quartet or trombone choir, solo trumpet ad lib. Each of the nine hymn melodies is represented as a free chorale arrangement, as a concertante piece or as a prelude to the congregational hymn in the church service, often in a jazz idiom, and as a hymn setting for congregational accompaniment, playable by winds and organ simultaneously or alternately, with over-part for the final verse. The organ part is at most moderately difficult and can also be performed on single-manual instruments, although pedal use is required.
