Description:
Juraj Filas is a composer whose style is characterized by a distinct lyrical expressiveness and a constant dramatic tension. Panta Rei (everything flows) is part of this aesthetic and is inspired by the Heraclitean principle of constant movement. The work is written for trumpet, trombone and piano, a trio that offers a balance between power, virtuosity and harmonic density. From the very first bars, the musical discourse evokes a continuous, almost unstoppable flow in which the themes are incessantly changing. The trumpet provides brilliant and incisive impulses, while the trombone enriches the sound structure with its depth and warmth. The piano acts as a rhythmic and harmonic motor, structuring the tensions and driving the movement forward again. The ensemble plays with the contrasts between singing lyricism and more restless episodes. The dramatic dimension is reinforced by a very contrasting composition that alternates between instability and moments of suspension. In this way, Panta Rei becomes a musical reflection on time, change and the transience of forms.
