Description:
The five-voiced fugue, commonly called 'St. Anne's', for full organ appears in part 3 of Bach's 'Clavierubung', published in 1739 or 1740. The melody which supplies the theme is from a hymn is attributed to Bach's near contemporary William Croft, but it is probably of much earlier origin. In the present setting, it has been transposed down a major second. It can be played by a brass quintet or a brass choir.
