Description:
The Austrian composer Franz Schubert wrote his famous song The Trout (D550) in 1817. This song reappeared as the basis of a set of variations for the fourth movement of the renowned Trout Quintet , so-named as a reference to the title of the song. Robert van Beringen used the lively theme for The Trout Fantasy , which he has written for a five-part brass ensemble. The instrumentation means that this piece can be performed in various combinations: trumpet 1 and 2 in B flat, horn in F (or horn in E flat), trombone (or euphonium) and tuba (or trombone, euphonium, tuba in E flat).
