Sometimes musical hits have a rather difficult birth - as in the case of the German evergreen "Wir wollen niemals auseinandergehn". The song was written for the preliminary round of the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson 1960 (now the Eurovision Song Contest ESC). While composer Michael Jary wanted the very young Heidi Brühl to sing the song, lyricist Bruno Balz wanted 52-year-old Zarah Leander to do the job. Only a Grand Prix jury was able to settle the dispute between the two authors, in favor of Heidi Brühl. Although highly favored, the song did not even make it into the international main round of the German preliminary round.

However, this was by no means the end of the story, because after its release on record, the song's triumphal march began: for eight weeks, "Wir wollen niemals auseinandergehn" was number one in the German charts; in Germany alone, the record sold over a million copies and the song received a gold record.

The arrangement for the RUNDEL Schlager Brass (Sextett) series by Stefan Schwalgin gives the sophisticated hit, which shows the typical musical handwriting of the experienced Michael Jary, a timelessly beautiful form.

Lyrics (chorus):
We never want to go apart,
we always want to stand together.
No matter how much happens in the big world,
We never want to go apart.
Our world remains so beautiful,
We never want to go apart.
