The dedicatees are Louis Dorus (flute), the Verroust brothers (oboe and bassoon), Adolphe Leroy (clarinet) and Martin-Joseph Mengal (horn). Shortly before his death, he dedicated himself for the first and last time to the genre that had been brought to its first bloom by his teacher Anton Reicha.
