Description:
The Advent carol 'Maria durch ein' Dornwald ging' has been popular since the middle of the 19th century, but it probably dates from around 1600. The popular short and catchy melody has been turned into a romantic 'carol without words' in the present piece. Instrumentation suggestion: Ideally, complete woodwind orchestra with multiple flutes and clarinets, i.e. about 4 flutes, oboe, bassoon, 9-12 clarinets, bass clarinet, 3-4 saxophones. The oboe may be missing, and in an emergency the
3rd clarinet. Of the three bass instruments (bassoon, bass clarinet, baritone saxophones) at least one must be occupied - and blown by a very confident player. The edition contains the following parts: Flute
Oboe Bassoon (Bassoon)
1st Clarinet in Bb
2nd Clarinet in Bb
3rd Clarinet in Bb
Bass Clarinet in Bb
Alto Saxophone in Eb
Tenor Saxophone in Bb
Baritone Saxophone in Eb
