Description:
Ave verum corpus is a short Eucharistic hymn that has been set to music by various composers. It dates from the 14th century and has been attributed to Pope Innocent VI. The musical setting by Mozart is his final completed sacred work. It was written on June 17th, 1791, for the feast of Corpus Christi at the request of Anton Stoll, choirmaster at Baden where Mozart was visiting with his wife Constanze. This version for clarinet quartet feature 3 Bb clarinets and bass clarinet.
